Assignment Instructions
Write an article based on an interview with a manager of a company. The interview and article should focus on their management style.
The interview may be in your original language, but responses should be translated into English for the article and noted appropriately using direct and indirect speech as learned in EAP. The interview can take place over digital channels or in person.
However, it must be a live interview, not a text-based interview (ie no email or messaging). If you do not have someone you can interview, please ask your tutor to provide you with a manager to interview.
The article should include:
Summary of the interview (100-150 words)
- Analysis of their leadership style based on one or more of the management theories noted in this module (600-700 words)
- Reflection on what you’ve learned (200-300 words)
- Conclusion (100-150 words)
Provide supporting evidence by citing when appropriate from Business Management and/or Leadership and Change Management (available in Kortext).
Also include a separate document with (to submit as a formative):
- Person’s name
- Name of the company
- When and where the interview took place
- List of questions asked in the interview
You are to be asking about management style, so provide relevant questions
Submitting the work
The report should be submitted in one document as a Word (.docx) document by the deadline which you can find on Moodle.
You should include a cover sheet that clearly outlines:
- the module title,
- the title of your essay
- the word count (The word count should: Include all the text, including title, preface, introduction, in-text citations, quotations, footnotes and any other items not specifically excluded. Exclude diagrams, tables (including tables/lists of contents and figures), equations, executive summary/abstract, acknowledgements, declaration, bibliography/list of references and appendices. However, it is not appropriate to use diagrams or tables merely as a way of circumventing the word limit. If a student uses a table or figure as a means of presenting his/her own words, then this is included in the word count.)
