Students will present a formal problem/solution report that addresses an actual issue, your evaluation of the problem, and a formal recommendation for action.  Topics might be related to the challenges of social media sites, global warming, marketing to younger audiences, cell phone use while driving, credit card debt, parking on campus, mental health awareness, or a plethora of other issues.

Assignment:  Your task is to prepare a written report and a 3 minute oral presentation summary of your report and recommendations.

Required parts of your report:

You will submit a final copy of your report and the link to your oral presentations in the assignment link in Canvas.  Reports will be graded based on accurate APA format, citations, content, grammar, spelling, and organization.  Video presentations may consist of you summarizing your report, or you may create a short PowerPoint and then record your talk over it similar to how I do the weekly videos.   Videos should be uploaded to YouTube and shared using the same process as the Hot Top Presentations earlier this semester.  This is an individual assignment.  The paper and presentation will be worth 20% of your final grade, and there will be a 10% per day late penalty.  Be sure to read Chapter 13 and review Figures 13.7 and 13.9 in your textbook to use as a guide.

Proper Citation:  You MUST cite correctly within the paragraphs and in a separate “Reference” page.  You do not need to use direct quotes.  When you write the report, you will paraphrase what you found in your research.  This needs to have an in-text citation each time you discuss information you found elsewhere.  Failure to properly cite your sources both within the paragraph and in the Reference page will result in a lower grade and may possibly be considered plagiarism.  Plagiarism is a serious form of cheating and can result in a zero grade and/or failure of the entire class.

Use APA writing style.  Examples of appropriate citation methods for both in-text citations (i.e. within the paragraphs) and in a separate works cited/reference page can be located at https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/index.html
