Overview
For this activity, you get practice in creating a chronological resume that you could submit for an employment position within the criminal justice system.
Prepare
- Read Chapters 9, 10, and 11 in The Quick Resume Cover Letter Book: Write and Use an Effective Resume in Only One Day.
- Review the sample resumes in Chapter 10 to use as a guide for your resume.
- Refer to the Strayer Career Center and the section on Resumes.
Instructions
Use what you have learned about resumes and leveraging your experience to complete the following:
- Create a detailed, chronological resume that clearly presents a minimum of three examples of experience and skills valuable to a criminal justice employer.
Note: We recognize that some students may not have prior experience specifically in the field of Criminal Justice. Therefore, you can speak to how the places you have worked and the skills you've developed in volunteer service will translate to a Criminal Justice role (customer service, patience, dealing with difficult individuals, etc.). You can also include non-employment experience as part of one of your three examples.
This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The library is your home for SWS assistance, including citations and formatting. Please refer to the Library site for all support. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
