PSS219 Public Safety and Security in Singapore Group-Based Assignment

Question 1

Select one of the three domains of PSS219, and prepare a presentation of no more than 10 minutes for your class. You will be judged on the quality of your findings and recommendations, as well as the delivery of your presentation.

Refer to the speeches delivered in the 2025 Committee of Supply Debate by a ministry that is related to your selected domain.

a) Illustrate at least TWO (2) issues raised by the ministry, and how those issues potentially affect public safety and security in Singapore. One of these issues should minimally relate to at least one of the three domains of PSS219. You should not highlight issues that were not included in the speeches. (30 marks)

b) Summarise how the ministry intends to address the issues that they have highlighted, and the benefit it will bring to Singapore’s public safety and security. You should also identify aspects of their proposal that are unique to Singapore’s context. (30 marks)

c) Analyse how that ministry intends to utilise resources and engage stakeholders in support of their proposal. Critique the relevance, adequacy, and effectiveness of their proposal. (30 marks)

d) Develop a 10-minute professional class presentation to explain your findings and recommendations to your T-Group, and be prepared to answer questions from your classmates at the end of your presentation. Each student will be graded individually for the quality of their own presentation. (10 marks)
