Your organization’s research and quality departments have reached out to the super-user committee you are on with an issue. They are having to do manual chart audits instead of using the reporting tools that are a part of the electronic health record (EHR). After reviewing their examples, the informatics team has identified that the issue is not with the reports, but the way that staff is charting. Staff are consistently over-utilizing text fields instead of the structured options found in lists and other standardized selections.

Leadership does not want to add to the documentation burden by adding more required fields to the EHR. Your group is charged with quickly developing education for staff in order to meet the deadline for an important research study.

This paper should be 1000 to 1250 words (4 to 5 pages), not including the title page or references list. The paper should contain a minimum of six scholarly references, with a minimum of three references from scholarly sources that are outside of the required course readings. References should have been published within the past five (5) years, unless the reference is a seminal publication. The paper must be written following APA Style guidelines.
