Relationships within the family and among subsystems (subsystems in a family may be divided by siblings/parent, gender, generations, interests, etc.)
Informal and formal roles (did role conflicts exist?)
Communication patterns
Boundaries (on an open to closed continuum)
Informal and formal rules
Describe your family’s interactions with its environment and external systems such as extended family, social supports, and community resources (ie what would your family’s ecomap look like?)
Describe the cultural identity of your family – be sure to also consider spirituality and/or worldview in this section. What other cultural influences impacted your family?
Finally, identify what you believe to your family’s strengths and challenges.
