Assessment Title: Reflection
Student Number: STU****
Tutor Name: *****
Word Count: ACTUAL word count used from introduction to conclusion – not recommended wordcount!
(Recommended maximum word count is 2000 words)
1. After your front cover page, start with an Introduction.
This should be around 100 words (about 5% of the total word count). It should identify what your reflection will include throughout the whole piece.
NB this reflection is about YOU. This means that it should be written in the first person so you CAN use I but ensure that your writing is formal, academic, and referenced.
2. After your introduction, explain what you understand by ethics and morals and how these relate to health and social care. Discuss the ethical principles of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice.
3. Explain two ethical theories, such as utilitarianism, virtue ethics and deontology (or others) and how they could affect ethical decision making in health and care.
4. Outline your understanding of freedom, rights, responsibilities, and power within health and care.
5. Examine your own personally held values and those of freedom, rights, responsibilities, and power within health and care. Discuss the impact these have on your own practice, learning and development. A key element of reflective writing involves explaining what the results of your actions were, so ensure you include this here.
6. Discuss the concepts of compassion, dignity, and respect and how effective communication can enhance these concepts in practice.
7. Consider the importance of interpersonal skills and strategies for enhancing dignity and respect in health and care. Use examples where possible to demonstrate your understanding and evidence of this.
8. Provide a summary of any key elements you have learned in this module, how you will change and improve your practice and any further actions you might undertake to enhance your development.
9. Finish with a conclusion to your reflection (around 100 words)
10. Include your list of references using Arden University Harvard referencing. If you have used an AI tool such as Grammarly or Quillbot to improve your work, you MUST reference this.
