Case Study: Converting your GBS School’s Library into Large Seminar Rooms

The project involves converting the existing library at GBS into large seminar rooms to support growing student numbers. The work must be completed within a short timeframe, with minimal disruption to ongoing campus activities.

You must upload your submission on Moodle before 23:59 on Monday 30th June 2025 to complete this assessment. 

Your portfolio must contain the following:

CMA3005 Report Structure (1500 words)

Introduction (250 words)

  • Define the role of a construction manager.
  • Briefly outline the importance of construction management in modern projects.
  • Outline the purpose of this report: to explore how a Construction Manager would approach the conversion of an existing college library into large seminar rooms. 

Main Body (1000 words)

  • Key Responsibilities and Ethics of a Construction Manager
  • Management Techniques and Communication in Construction
  • Health, Safety, and Risk Management in Construction Projects

Conclusion and Recommendations (250 words)

  • Summarise how the Construction Manager’s responsibilities, communication, and safety strategies apply to the scenario.
