As a criminologist, you are asked to provide an expert testimony on Jenny’s behavior. In your paper, address the following topics:
- Since victims may influence criminal behavior by playing an active role in a criminal incident, do you believe that Jenny continued to be a victim after time passed and she was allowed to leave the residence? Why or why not?
- What theory/theories of victimization would apply to Jenny’s situation?
- Define the term “learned helplessness” and determine if this applies to Jenny? If so, how?
- Do you think Jenny should be charged? Why or why not?
- If so, what would you recommend Jenny be charged with? Explain your decision.
- If she is not charged with anything, would you recommend any type of aftercare? If so, what type?
- As an expert criminologist, what else should be addressed or taken into consideration regarding Jenny’s culpability?
- If she is charged and convicted, what would you recommend for sentencing/punishment?
