Introduction and Alignment An article review is a piece of writing where you summarize and assess another person’s research or study. It provides a logical evaluation of the theme of the article, supporting arguments, and implications for further research. Conducting journal article reviews enables the learner to identify recent advances in a particular field of study, find solutions to gaps in the research, and provide a level of expertise in a particular area of study. Upon completion of this assignment, you should be able to: evaluate scholarly material in terms of how it is constructed and reported resource: 1) professional area(s) of interest are finance and banking Instructions Select and review four (4) research articles from scholarly journals related to your professional area of interest and specific program of study. Each article review should be 2-3 pages typed and double-spaced. Use Times New Roman, Arial, or Courier 12 point font. NOTE: The four reviews should be compiled as a single document and uploaded. Use the following format and guidelines for writing each review. TITLE PAGE – Not counted as part of page number requirement. CITATION – At the top of the paper write the citation of the article in APA format. INTRODUCTION – Write an introduction paragraph that informs the reader that you intend to review a research article. Tell the reason why you selected this article for review. It should also mention the purpose of the article and any primary questions or central themes addressed. (should only be 10-25% of the review) SYNOPSIS OF ARTICLE – Express the main points, arguments and findings of the article. Use direct quotes from the author sparingly. Be sure your summary is an accurate description of the author’s article. CRITIQUE OF ARTICLE – Express your opinion about whether the article was clear, thorough, and a useful explanation of the subject. How well does the author deal with the subject matter in the article? Evaluate the main points, arguments, and any biases you might find in the article. Decide if you agree with the writer, then provide sufficient support as to why or why not. Support the critique with evidence from the article. Research Methodology and Procedures – Describe the type of data analysis used in the article. Be sure to include use of statistical terms and applications. Include how data is illustrated in the article (i.e. graph, table, etc) General Findings, Conclusions, and Recommendations – Describe how the author discusses the findings of the study with regards to its agreement or disagreement with previous findings of other specialists. Does the author make any suggestions regarding future research or shape suggestions based on the practical significance of the study? CONCLUSION – In a paragraph, summarize the main points and your opinion about its significance for further research or discussion in the field (this should only be about 10% of the review
