Late Assignment Policy
Late Written Assignment Policy
All assignments are expected to be submitted by the due date. It is the student’s responsibility to
verify the accuracy of the submission, including the draft version and writing on assigned topics (if
applicable). Late assignments will result in a penalty of 25% per day past the due date.
Extenuating circumstances will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Once an assignment has
been graded, resubmissions for a higher grade are not allowed. Documentation must be
submitted to the Makeup Request Form within 48 hours of the due date. The targeted response
time for approval/denial is 48 business hours. No assignments will be accepted after the official
term end date.
Weekly Discussion/Reflection Policy
Weekly discussions/reflections will be graded for lateness according to the rubric and
instructions. No late submissions are accepted. Extenuating circumstances will be addressed on
a case-by-case basis. Documentation must be submitted to the Makeup Request Form within 48
hours of the due date. The targeted response time for approval/denial is 48 business hours.

or misses an exam or quiz is expected to notify faculty in advance. Make-up quizzes and exams
may be offered for those with extenuating circumstances. The make-up exam or quiz may be
different in format from the originally administered version. The decision to offer a make-up exam
or quiz will be at the discretion of the Arts & Science leadership in collaboration with the course
faculty member. Documentation must be submitted to the Makeup Request Form within 48 hours
of the missed exam or quiz date. Make-up quizzes or exams are to be completed within seven
days of the original due date.

Weekly Discussion Guidelines
Weekly Discussion Guidelines (Weeks 1-11)
As part of your learning experience, active participation in discussions is essential. An important
part of the final grade will be based on your participation. You will be evaluated on the quality and
quantity of your participation in the discussion forum corresponding to the grading rubric.
To meet the minimum participation requirements, you will post on three days during the week.
For the first post (initial post), select one of the discussion prompts to answer. It is due by 11:59
p.m. Eastern Time on day four of the week. To address the chosen prompt fully, you will refer to
the topical outline of the course syllabus that corresponds with the prompt you select. This will
help demonstrate your understanding of the content while providing a thorough and detailed
discussion post. Initial posts must include at least one APA 7th edition style in-text citation and full
matching references of an appropriate reading to support your responses.
Once you make the initial post, you will see other people’s posts. You will then post responses on
at least two additional days. The response posts are due by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on day
seven of the week.
The initial post and response posts should be in your own words and demonstrate critical
thinking, analysis, and the expected level of knowledge. They should be more than a few
sentences. They should be in complete sentences and paragraph form. You should not have
bullet points as they are not in complete sentences or paragraph form. Copy-pasting from outside
sources may result in zero.

Unit 8 Assignment – Applying AI to Your Academic Work
Purpose
In this unit, you will create a PowerPoint presentation applying AI to your academic work. You will
demonstrate how to utilize AI to support your academic journey.
Before beginning this assignment, view its Assignment Guide in the Unit 8 module for detailed
guidance on working with PowerPoint and completing this assignment. (USLOs 8.1, 8.3)
Instructions
Select one of the following options to guide your work for this assignment: - Identify a challenging topic that you want help with understanding.
- Identify a challenging skill from one of your courses for which you want additional tutoring.
- Identify an upcoming exam for which you would like to practice.
Once you have selected an option to guide your work, complete the following steps: - Select an AI tool relevant to this assignment.
- Draft an AI prompt that asks the tool to support you with your selected topic, skill, or exam
practice and supports its response with scholarly and professional sources. - Submit your prompt to the selected AI tool and save its response.
Once you have submitted your prompt to the selected AI tool, create a PowerPoint with the
following slides in this order: - Title Slide — Include a title slide featuring your title and name.
- AI Tool and Prompt Slide — Include your selected AI tool and AI prompt.
- AI Response Summary Slide — Provide a bulleted summary in your own words of AI’s
response to your prompt. - Reflection Slide — Provide a bulleted reflection in your own words on how useful AI’s
response was; whether you need to adjust your prompt to garner a better response; and
how you can utilize this information to improve your understanding of the selected topic,
skill, or exam practice. - Using AI to Support Learning Slide — Identify 3 ways in which you can personally use AI to
support your learning. - References Slide — List references that AI provided in its response formatted according to
7th edition APA guidelines.
The design of your PowerPoint should: - Adhere to the practices explained in the Assignment Guide.
- Have one common visual theme applied (i.e., apply a theme from the Design tab).
- Include at least 2 different slide layouts.
- Include text on all slides (Slides 3-5 should have 3-5 bullet points each).
- Include at least 2 relevant images or graphics that support the content.
Your PowerPoint should be professional without errors related to grammar, spelling, and
mechanics. Save your completed PowerPoint slideshow as a PowerPoint file (.ppt or .pptx) and
submit it to the assignment dropbox in Canvas.
