Imagine you have been tasked with guiding your future employer (a healthcare or social services organization) in developing a statement of solidarity and support for anti-racist practice.

Directions

Complete this assignment following the steps below.

Section 1: Format

  1. Imagine you have been tasked with guiding your future employer (a healthcare or social services organization) in developing a statement of solidarity and support for anti-racist practice. Given the challenge of coordinating the schedules of different key stakeholders, you have been tasked with recording a slide show with narration. The recording of your presentation must be between 5 to 7 minutes.
  2. You are required to use a slide deck (e.g., PowerPoint) to organize your presentation.
  3. You are expected to have at least nine slides. Organize your slide deck using the title headings identified below. The only exception is for slide 1, for which you will choose the title of your presentation. Please remember this is a video narration. Each slide should have no more than 40 words.

Section 2: Organization and Delivery

  1. Organize your slide deck (PowerPoint presentation) using the following format:
    1. The title slide (first slide) should include your name and the date in the subtitle.
    2. About the Organization. The second slide should describe the organization. In your presentation, briefly describe the purpose of the organization and its mission. Whom do you serve (what populations), and where (what setting)?
    3. Purpose. The third slide should describe the rationale for developing a statement of solidarity and support for anti-racist practice in healthcare and social service settings. Why is it important for this organization to develop a statement of solidarity and support for anti-racism?
    4. Basic tenets of anti-racist practice. The fourth slide should first define anti-racism. Thereafter, identify at least four principles of anti-racism and, if possible, offer examples to help stakeholders understand each principle. This may be the first time stakeholders in the organization are being introduced to this concept.
    5. “Not Racist” and Anti-Racist. The fifth slide should briefly explain the difference (in your own words) between “not racist” and anti-racist.
    6. Racist Idea or Practice. The next set of slides should identify and briefly describe (in your own words) at least two examples of racist ideas or practices in healthcare or social service settings. For example, what is the problem with healthcare or social service professionals identifying themselves as not racist or color-blind?
    7. Anti-Racist Idea or Practice. Thereafter, you should identify and briefly describe (in your own words) at least two examples of anti-racist ideas or practices in healthcare or social service settings.
    8. Summary. Briefly summarize the main points from your presentation and your main takeaways.
    9. References. Identify all references using APA format.
  2. You must use at least three outside, credible, and relevant sources for this assignment.
  3. Sources should be no more than five years old unless they are historical references.
  4. You must correctly cite and use in-text citations.
  5. Follow grammar, spelling, word usage, and punctuation rules consistent with formal, professional writing.
  6. Abide by Chamberlain University’s academic integrity policy.
