Now that you have outlined your needs for an electronic health record (EHR) and selected a vendor, it is time to consider what steps are needed to complete the implementation. Depending on the size of your institution and the complexity of your EHR requirements, the time to implementation could range from 6 months up to 2 years.

Your implementation plan should be 3–5 pages and include the following:

Define the steps needed to implement the system. Describe a time line to implementation that includes the following: Installing the new equipment or software Testing the system Training the staff Who will provide training? How will the system be supported and by whom?
